71 - 20-Miler in the Rain, in the Can, and on my Face!

I went out for my longest distance when there was a lull in the rain. The middle part was the 12 mile course of the Beaver Freezer. It started pouring on Oak Creek near the farthest point. The jacket kept me dry but the pants were soaked and water was gushing into my new shoes. George said I must have been happy because there was dirt in my teeth! It cannot be worse than this on the day of the Beaver Freezer (April 2). So, I should be just fine.

Here is a close-up of my face:

  1. Wow, good for you! When you keep going through conditions like that, you really feel like you've achieved something, don't you?

  2. Yes. It was kinda' funny when I was just getting soaked. The last time I was soaked like that was when we went to the deep forest in Brunei. Got caught in a big storm and had to go back in long boats for 2 1/2 hours on the river. The first time I had goose-bumps in Southeast Asia!

  3. I hate running/training in the rain. I'm so impressed with you! You're doing great! It feels good to have a goal, doesn't it?

  4. The decision to do this triathlon has been perfect for me. I was getting exercise, but I was not challenging myself, but I also wouldn't haven't been able to until December. That's when I realized I could bend over and get back up again. So, the timing of this couldn't be more perfect. I have also gotten half the weight off that I gained because of my injuries.

The new shoes (very expensive but supported a local business and all the employees are experts) have given me a whole new lease on life. I even signed up on the Runner's World website. I am going to do a few 5K's this spring and summer and see where that leads. Running really slims me down!
